New Theme

The more I looked at the old theme, the more I hated it. I’ve been working on this one for a couple months. It was modeled after B movie posters of the 50s and 60s. I think it could still use a little more tweaking.

Word

It’s that time again. Time for me to switch blogging platforms and do a complete overhaul of the site. I’ve always thought Drupal seemed a little sluggish. Here’s hoping WordPress is faster.

As far as the design goes, it started out pretty simple but after I made the new logo things snowballed quickly. It’s hard for me to stop messing around with Photoshop once I get started.

The migration to WordPress wasn’t flawless. Somewhere along the way I lost all the comments made over the last two years. There are probably a few broken links and missing images, but I’ll fix them as I find them.

Newness

If you have eyes you’ve probably noticed that things look a little different. And if you look closer you’ll see that I’ve switched from LifeType to Drupal. I was never a huge fan of LifeType. The only reason I used it in the first place was because my host had it pre-loaded. My intentions were to try it out for a little while and then move on to something else. “A little while” turned into two years.

A direct migration from LifeType to Drupal wasn’t easily doable. I actually had to install WordPress, import all the posts from LifeType, and then import from WordPress into Drupal. I had to manually enter all the comments. It was a lot of work, but it didn’t really take that long.

While I was at it, I imported what I considered to be the 20 best posts out of over 160 entries from my old MindSay blog that preceded this site. Why 20? That’s the most I could import at one time. Now you can go back and read 3 to 4 year old posts about zombies, head shaving, and some of my run ins with ‘Suzy Q’.

You’ll also see a few ads now. I don’t think they’re too obtrusive.

Stats

I’ve been looking at traffic stats for this site lately. I had a ton of hits related to that last guitar mod. A lot of people have linked to those pictures from forums and MySpace pages. I may replace those pics with some goatse type stuff just for a laugh.

These are just a few of the search engine queries that people have used to find this site:

  • febreeze setting off gas alarm
  • it’s not mine i’m holding it for a friend
  • jehovah witness warcraft guild
  • kfc secret message area 51

Looks like I’m not the only one with theories on the Roswell/Colonel Sanders conspiracy.

Open for bidness

So, here we are. I figured this would get me back into the habit of blogging more often. I also kind of missed having my own site.
